Welcome
Since 1992, the Orcutt Aquacenter of Santa Maria Valley, Board of Directors has concentrated on the mission to build, operate and maintain a community swimming pool and recreation area for the Santa Maria Valley and other surrounding areas located in northern Santa Barbara County. With final approval from the County of Santa Barbara, the Orcutt Aquacenter, Inc., a 501 (C) (3) corporation is moving forward to raise the funds necessary to make its vision a reality.
The Aquacenter will include a 50 meter outdoor Olympic size competition pool, 25 yard indoor recreation pool, therapy pool, outdoor water play area with a water slide, picnic area, and a 16,500 square ft. community building to benefit youth, families, senior citizens and the disabled. Further, there will also be an emphasis on those who are economically, physically, and mentally challenged.
The Aquacenter of Santa Maria Valley will be designed to:
- To provide classes which will instruct individuals of all ages in swimming, physical exercise, water safety, life-saving and underwater activities.
- To provide opportunities and supporting equipment for the training and competing of organized aquatic team events, such as swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming.
- To provide opportunities and supporting equipment for recreational and therapeutic use.
The Orcutt Aquacenter of Santa Maria Valley, which is estimated to cost $17 million to construct, is expected to be built in phases. Supporters say the Aquacenter will help meet a crucial need for more recreational facilities in Orcutt, which currently has no public pool.
Since obtaining final project approval in 2007, the Orcutt Aquacenter, Inc., Board of Directors short-term goal is to complete the construction drawings, obtain building permits, and begin on-site improvements, with the community building construction beginning in 2009.
